New Post: #8 Technique Tuesday

Jim Venetos Swing Method

Hi Friends

You may or may not remember I promised a newsletter on how to hit tight powerful draws every time - well this is that newsletter.

For today’s Technique Tuesday I bring you the Jim Venetos swing method.

Jim with his trademark Converse trainers and closed stance

Jim advocates a few fundamentals,

He believes all the work is done in the set up,

  • Strong grip

  • Closed stance

  • Weight on left side

He talks about “Stillness” in the swing,

There is NO pivot and NO weight shift.

Staying on your left side enables repeatable golf swings, consistency and solid contact every time.

Jim says that the average handicap of all golfers is 16 but for those he has taught/teaches it is only 8.

When you know this, the golf swing gets easier

I’ve tried this approach on the range, and it’s true it’s easier to hit the ball solid, and I did hit a nice draw. However, I found it quite hard to aim, and I would hit the ball to the right-effectively where I was aiming with the closed stance-But the contact was really solid, so maybe some further practice would sort out the directional issues.

Time to go back to the range once again………….

This is a good Youtube video, with Jim talking through his approach.

Maybe give it a try next time you are hitting balls, what’s the worst that can happen??

Tomorrow I sit down for a chat with an elite amatuer golfer, owner of a plus handicap, winner of Club Championships, Scratch Opens and holder of Course Records…………interview coming very soon to “A Round with Jerry”

Keep hitting it on the short stuff……..

Ta ta for now,

Cheers JT/Jerry
