New Post #39 Technique Tuesday
Pause for thought

Hi Friends
Wow. What a game of football and what a result we just witnessed.
Great to see the underdog prevail.
Those boys should be truly proud of that result, it was one hell of a performance.
Yes of course I’m talking about Brighton’s come back win against the champions last night. 3-2 versus Liverpool an all round fantastic performance from the team in 8th place in the Premier league.
There was another result on Saturday, that I should mention, where that Croydon team, that is struggling down in 12th place in the prem, managed to dodge their way to a win over the past it Pep Guardiola and Man City.
A missed penalty and a missed sending off all helped Palace limp to victory.
OF COURSE I JEST,

Well played
I was actually very pleased (honestly I was) to see Palace win the FA cup, It was a great performance and I think they were much deserved winners. 3rd time worked a charm.
I know a lot of readers will be very very happy at the moment, in fact maybe they are glad all over.
Well Played Crystal Palace 👏
There was another big win at the weekend, this time from Scottie Sheffler, dominating the USPGA championship (minus a small Rahm run)
Scottie was the favourite and looked a different class all week. How many majors will he win? I think he will end up with more than Rory. Do you agree?

Talking of Rory, he did win something,
I have the results from the poll I ran in the last issue, What was the best Masters of all time,
Rory 2025 - 46%
Tiger 1997 - 18%
Faldo 1996 - 18%
Jack 1986 - 9%
Tiger 2019 - 9%
Had another couple of suggestions, so these get honorable mentions,
Tiger 2005 - The chip in on 16th green
Schwartzel 2011 - 4 birdies in a row to finish
Thank you for those that responded,
This weeks Technical insight comes from 6 time major winner Nick Faldo. Featured in his book “A swing for life”
It’s really interesting as it goes against a lot of the current teaching of swing as hard as you can.
But I think the point is, it’s better to hit it solid with a slightly slower swing speed then all over the face, swingingall out.

I’m going to try that 12 ball drill for sure
I managed to play some golf on the weekend, with a 36 hole scratch match representing the Surrey A team versus Betchworth Park (a very nice Harry Colt course, sitting at the bottom of Box Hill in Surrey).

Betchworth Park 13th Green
I achieved a win and loss in my two matches, losing 2&1 to the very experienced current club champion in the singles and winning the foursomes by the same score.
I wasn’t playing my best in the morning foursomes and we were letting slip a good lead, at this point my partner (who I had never played with before) decided to give me a bit of talking too, I promptly hit a 7 iron to 3 ft to close out the match.
Maybe tough love works after all.
There is actually a castle at Betchworth (pictured below) situated right by the 14th tee.

How it used to look

The majors keep coming thick and fast with the US Open being held at Oakmont Country Club commencing 12th June.

Oakmont Country Club
Would you bet against Scottie also winning that? I wouldn’t.
These are the latest odds.

Have a great week and hole some long putts, it will make you feel alright, alright, alright

Thanks for reading,
