2 Championships 1 Cup

Hi Friends
Let it not be said that this is a newsletter for the philistine, bereft of any culture.
……..Yes. let’s not mention this newsletter’s title and any connotations (IYKYK and if don’t, please don’t ask)
A poem to start the day,
Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance,
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul.
I think if you keep these words to mind when battling in your summer knockouts, you won’t go far wrong.
And to those fine men from The Addington that played a particularly tough scratch match versus the Kent County 1st team over the weekend - you may be bloody, but you are unbowed!!
In other news,
We have 2 important and historical Golf championships this week,
Firstly we have the Sunningdale Foursomes starting today. This championship allows amateurs, pros, ladies and men all to compete together using a hybrid handicap system.

Dame Laura playing in the Sunningdale foursomes in a previous year
This year we such names as Robert Rock (my swing coach once upon a time), Benn Barham (Previous interviewee Tony Adam’s swing coach), Charley Hull, Georgia Hall and ex Wales and Real Madrid footballer Gareth Bale.

You can follow the results here if the feeling so takes you……………and if it doesn’t, then don’t.
Next, starting Thursday we have golf’s unofficial 5th major - The Players Championship.

The island green 17th
The problem with calling The Players the unofficial 5th major is those pesky guys on the LIV tour.
Bryson, Rahm, Koepka and Hatton amongst others will be missing - so can it really be called the 5th major? especially now that LIV players have a route into the actual majors?
It’s a tournament I enjoy watching though, it’s a great course and a great field even without the LIV guys.
My tip this week? Why change, I’m going for Rory.
So we had a slice of Spring weather but that seems to have disappeared as quickly as it came along.
But don’t be disheartened, put a jumper on and probably a snood and a woolly hat and get out there and clip a few,

Robert Rock and myself talking about pelvic thrust and AoA
Cheers,

I’m ready……
